Hand Over Your Opinions
Villain's Promise » Devlog
Okay! It's that time again where I ask everyone for input on some development pieces. So, if you follow my tumblr, chances are you've seen this post:

I know a lot of you (whom I appreciate and adore) will not care where I take this game. However, on the off chance that there are people who do enjoy the idea of gender customizable RO's or people who have become attached to the names- I want your input. And I also want to know if poly routes are something people really want.
Thanks!

Oh everything is fine bothways actually. Just keep the game going and I'll like it wherever you take it. At least for me, I don't necessarily need anything other than what the game already has, it's great really.
In my opinion, gender customizable ROs provide variety for people who want a certain character to be a certain gender, while predetermined genders perhaps make it easier to highlight some aspects of the characters' personality, which makes them more...idk, specific? Both has advantages, although I like the second one slightly more.
As for poly routes, I know some people like them very much but I aren't really interested personally. So I'm good whether you have one or not (I probably won't play it XD).
I would really like poly routes! They give you a different insight in how the character is, and the dynamics are also interesting. Also, customizable ROs would be great, but as a commenter previously said, sometimes it's better to have a canon gender for stability. You could give the option to customize them, but also establish canon genders, it would be easier for content creators.
Oh i would really like poly routes! I love those routes because i tend to be the type that'll like more than one person, so having a poly route would not only be good for me, but will also give insight into the characters romantic relations with one another. I do like the idea of customizable RO's, because some of us will have certain preferences as what a certain characters gender should be lik
I avoid creator tumblrs (and related posting) because I like to go into games blind; also, sad to say, many games make it to the "Here's all the info, look forward to it! <3" stage before they run out of steam. As such, take whatever I say next with a grain of salt, since I've been avoiding even the tiniest spoilers! (So, no opinion on the names thing.)
* I'm good with canon genders, especially as someone who (sometimes, sort of) writes; sometimes characters spring into your head a certain way or evolve into a specific state, and it becomes hard to think of them otherwise. While I appreciate the option to choose RO genders, it's not necessary for me to appreciate and/or romance the characters.
* I'm not personally interested in poly relationships, though I know that some people prefer them or would like them to be available. It wouldn't turn me off unless it restricted characters to poly-only relationships, ex. I can't romance Character A unless I also romance Character B. It wouldn't be enough to make me swear off the game, but I might be a little disappointed if I wanted to start a (non-poly) relationship with a potential RO and couldn't.
I don't know much coding, so I can't give much of an opinion on the coding-based questions. From following the development of other games, though, it seems like trying to be too ambitious can be a one-way ticket to burnout, so don't feel like you have to meet all the expectations, especially not all at once. As a (future) player, I feel secure in saying that we're all supporting you, even if all we can do is exercise some patience!
